Annually VMFH hosts over 2,000 Nursing and Allied Health Profession students! 

Any clinical experience you are seeking can be found right here in your neighborhood. CHI Franciscan and Virginia Mason are now united to build the future of patient-centered care across the Pacific Northwest. Our combined system builds upon the scale and expertise of our nearly 300 sites of care across western Washington, including primary clinics, specialty clinics and same day surgery sites.

  • Individuals looking to complete a Capstone or RN Refresher clinical experience with VMFH are responsible for securing their own preceptor for clinical rotations.

    This includes, but is not limited to students from:

    • Western Governors University (WGU)
    • Grand Canyon University (GCU)
    • Washington State University

    Once you have confirmed placement, Please have your school send us an email at [email protected] that introduces you as a student.

    Your school is required to provide our team with details below:

    • School:
    • Name of Program:
    • Start Date:
    • End Date:
    • Total number of hours required:
    • The hospital/department or clinic/specialty/region you would like to be assigned:
    • Requirements of potential preceptor:
    • Objective sheet of program (please attach)

    Please note that an educational affiliation agreement (contract) must exist between VMFH and the educational institution for any student placement. If a current contract does not exist, this process can take between 1-3 months to coordinate.

    Additionally, the school and the student must register with our 3rd party vendor, My Clinical Exchange for onboarding at any of our facilities. This onboarding platform does have a fee for students and on-site instructors.

    VMFH Student Placement will send information over on this process once we receive the information requested above from your school coordinator.  
      

  • Nursing Instructor Led, Observation, and Practicum experiences are coordinated by the VMFH Student Placement Department in partnership with Clinical Placements Northwest (CPNW). Affiliation Agreements must be in place for consideration of placement.

    Once a student is offered a placement opportunity, they will be required to complete onboarding requirements.

  • Once you have confirmed placement, please work directly with your school coordinator to ensure the following process is completed:

    VMFH Student Placement work directly with your school coordinator regarding all onboarding processes and procedures. If you have any questions pertaining to onboarding, please partner directly with your school coordinator for next steps.

  • Individuals looking to complete an allied-health clinical experience with VMFH must have their school coordinator contact VMFH Student Placement directly.

    The current process for placement of allied health students at Virginia Mason Medical Center (VMMC) or Virginia Mason Clinics has not changed at this time. If you are in need of placement at VMMC/VM Clinics, please reach out to the department or clinic directly.
