General neurology care at Virginia Mason Franciscan Health: Why choose us?

Our program is home to highly qualified, board-certified general neurologists with experience treating a broad range of concerns. Some have a special interest and additional training in areas such as movement disorders and neurodiagnostics. Meet our general neurology team.

Highlights of our program include:

  • Personalized care: We frequently see patients with chronic (ongoing) symptoms. After establishing a personalized treatment plan, we periodically monitor you to check your response and make adjustments as needed.

  • Access to additional services: Many people receive all the care they need from a general neurologist. If you need advanced assessments or treatments, we refer you to one of our colleagues. Our extended team includes specialists in conditions such as epilepsy, movement disorders, multiple sclerosis and stroke prevention. Explore neurology specialty care.

  • Convenience: Neurosciences evaluations and treatments are available in locations throughout the Puget Sound. If you need additional tests, like labs or brain imaging studies, they’re often available close by.

General neurology services

General neurology services at Virginia Mason Franciscan Health include:

  • Our experts pinpoint the source of your symptoms and recommend treatments that are right for your needs. Evaluations such as EEGs and nerve conduction studies are available through our neurodiagnostic laboratory and other locations.

    Conditions we treat:

  • General neurologists frequently see people with a higher likelihood of complications or more than one neurologic concern. They monitor your condition and work with additional specialists to ensure you receive seamless care.

We coordinate services for patients with brain tumors and those at risk for seizures. Some people with Parkinson’s disease experience dementia and sleep issues. These are some of the many complex cases we oversee.

  • Our doctors provide treatments and recommendations that reduce stroke risk. We may also refer you to other specialists, such as sleep medicine doctors, who treat conditions that can lead to stroke.

General neurologists also see people who have recently been discharged from the hospital following a stroke. These efforts lower the risk of a second stroke. Explore stroke prevention and follow-up services.

How to access general neurology services

If you would like to see a general neurologist, first visit your primary care provider. They perform an initial assessment and issue a referral if appropriate. Even if your insurance plan doesn’t require a referral, you need one to access these services.
