Virginia Mason Franciscan Health is home to state-of-the-art hyperbaric medicine facilities run by some of the nation's most experienced and well-trained teams.
Hyperbaric oxygen therapy is a medical treatment that allows a patient to breathe 100 percent pure oxygen while in a pressurized chamber. Hyperbaric chambers are well known for treating scuba diving accidents, carbon monoxide poisoning, and other emergencies. Hyperbaric therapy also stimulates healing by helping the body grow new blood vessels and carrying oxygen to tissues. This is especially useful for treating non-healing wounds, including tissue that’s injured by radiation therapy, and some types of severe diabetic wounds.
Virginia Mason Medical Center in Seattle is the only facility in Western Washington with a triple-lock multiplace chamber. Learn more about this treatment chamber and how it works.
