Community Partnerships

Health care doesn’t start at the hospital or clinic door. Virginia Mason Franciscan Health partners with many organizations to increase access to care and opportunities for our vulnerable neighbors.

Pierce County Project Access and Project Access NW

  • Virginia Mason Franciscan Health proudly supports the work of both Project Access organizations in Puget Sound. Virginia Mason Franciscan Health donates care to project access clients, and provides financial support to care navigation and premium support programs.

Bailey-Boushay House

  • Owned and operated by Virginia Mason Franciscsan Health, Bailey-Boushay House provides compassionate, highly-professional care for people with HIV/AIDS. Many of our clients also deal with chemical dependencies, mental health issues, and/or homelessness. Bailey-Boushay House provides a shelter for homeless clients, housing stability services, chemical dependency support, outpatient services, and more.

Benaroya Research Institute

  • Benaroya Research Institute (BRI) powers discoveries in order to learn how to rebalance the immune system in all autoimmune and immune system diseases. The ultimate goal is to achieve a healthy immune system for each individual. As a world-renowned, non-profit research institute, BRI advances science that will predict, prevent, reverse, and cure diseases of the immune system.

Total Health Roadmap

  • Virginia Mason Franciscan Health will embed Community Health Workers in select clinics to screen and refer patients to social services. The Total Health Roadmap is a program developed by CommonSpirit Health

Blue Zones

  • Virginia Mason Franciscan Health is proud to partner with Pierce County and MultiCare Health System to bring Blue Zones to the Parkland-Spanaway communities. Blue Zones is a community-wide, well-being improvement initiative designed to make healthy choices easier. This multi-year project will build a community-centered team that will focus on making sustainable improvements to the places where people live, work, learn, and play.

Tacoma Anchor Network

  • Virginia Mason Franciscan Health is a member of the Tacoma Anchor Network, which increases coordination between Tacoma’s place-based institutions in order to facilitate equitable economic development, reduce health and economic disparities across Tacoma, and adopt an anti-racist approach to addressing systemic inequities.
