Neuroscience Institute Research and Academics

The multidisciplinary research team at the Neuroscience Institute includes neurologists, physiatrists, neurosurgeons, analysts, visiting scholars and fellows, working together to discover new information that can be used to improve patient outcomes.

Some of our recent investigations have focused on surgical appropriateness, ways to reduce hospital stays after surgery, novel medications for multiple sclerosis, improving care for ALS patients, treating chronic back pain, and team-based approaches to opioid management.

Neuroscience Institute partners with:

• Benaroya Research Institute at Virginia Mason, the Northwest’s leader in offering clinical studies to patients. See current clinical trials enrolling at Virginia Mason’s MS Center.
   
• Evergreen Chapter of the ALS Association, serving the needs of those living with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis and their caregivers.
   
• Surgical Care and Outcomes Assessment Program (SCOAP), which collects crucial information about the quality of care and areas for improvement in neurosurgery.

Education engages patients as well as Neuroscience Institute professionals in relevant, stimulating learning. We learn and teach new understandings of care with experts onsite and with audiences around the world.
