Diagnostic Radiology Residency

Welcome to the Virginia Mason Medical Center Diagnostic Radiology Residency Program! We are so happy you are interested in learning more about us. While we are the oldest approved radiology residency in the Northwest, we have managed to maintain a small, collegial program, which offers many benefits to our trainees. As a resident in our program, you are often the only resident on a given service, or one of two, which means you get early exposure to complex cases and participation in procedures. Didactic conferences are also more intimate and allow for engaging conversation. It is very hard to get left behind in our program, which is probably why we continue to have a 100% first time pass rate on the ABR Core exam! We are also very lucky to have a strong relationship with our colleagues at the University of Washington, where our residents attend weekly lectures and gain pediatric and emergency radiology experience through rotations at Seattle Children’s Hospital and Harborview Medical Center, respectively.

Our department likes to socialize with each other, too, as evidenced by our monthly happy hours, holiday parties, and summer BBQs! As a resident at Virginia Mason, you are truly an integral member of the team and a part of a radiology family that has deep roots and a long standing history of quality and excellence in the Pacific Northwest.
