The St. Anne Hospital pharmacy residency is a PGY1 program fully accredited by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP). Our mission is to develop competent, confident pharmacy practitioners who will function effectively in various health care environments, while developing skills in pharmacy practice management. Clinical learning experiences assist the residents to expand their knowledge of therapeutics and aid in the development of critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Leadership skills and professionalism will be strengthened through the practice management component of the residency program.
The residency experience is tailored by the resident development plan to help the resident achieve individual career goals. A variety of opportunities will be afforded to the resident in direct patient care, precepting, education, and management experiences. This training is evidence-based and allows the resident to become an integral member of an interdisciplinary team.
Upon completion of the program, the resident will be able to provide direct patient-centered care in acute care settings. The resident will be prepared to function in the role of a clinical pharmacist or pursue additional training in a PGY2 program, such as critical care, emergency medicine, infectious diseases, and management.
