Regional Anesthesia and Acute Pain Medicine

Since its formation in 1947, Virginia Mason's Department of Anesthesiology has nurtured and innovated the practice of regional anesthesia. Formalized in 1981, the fellowship in regional anesthesia—now regional anesthesiology and acute pain medicine—is one of the oldest fellowships of its kind in the nation. Our fellows are immersed in a culture of patient safety and continual quality improvement based on the Virginia Mason Production System (VMPS), a nationally recognized management system that improves patient safety and eliminates waste. Proud of our traditions, we look to the future with the following mission: We will provide the finest quality, safety and cost-effective care for our patients during the perioperative period. We will educate and develop physicians and leaders in anesthesia, perioperative, and pain medicine. We will generate cutting-edge, evidence-based innovation with emphasis on regional anesthesia’s contribution to multi-modal acute pain management.

Our interviewing season runs from January to March. At this time the interviews will be conducted via remote video conferencing.
