Asthma, Allergy, and Immunology Evaluations and Testing

Asthma, allergy and immunology evaluations include a complete medical history, directed physical exam and appropriate testing. These tests may be part of your evaluation:

• skin testing - prick method
• pulmonary function tests
• methacholine challenge (test for asthma)
• selected blood tests
• X-rays, including CAT scans
• drug testing and challenges

Virginia Mason Franciscan Health provides on-site laboratory and radiology services. On-site specialist referrals also are available, including pulmonary physicians and ear, nose and throat physicians. For out-of-town patients, a special effort is made to finish necessary testing and physician visits within the patient’s time constraints.
