Virginia Mason Franciscan Health Home Recovery Care is a care option that allows you to safely receive treatment for your medical condition in the comfort of your home instead of in the hospital. Home Recovery Care services are currently available to our patients at St. Joseph Medical Center in Tacoma, Washington.
Once you choose Home Recovery Care, you will be sent home instead of being admitted to the hospital. Your Home Recovery Care journey begins the moment you leave the emergency department. An acute care registered nurse will visit you at least twice a day for the first few days, or longer, right in the comfort of your own home.
All the necessary equipment you will need is delivered to your door and set up for you, such as an IV or oxygen. You will receive a remote patient monitoring kit that includes a pulse oximeter, blood pressure cuff, scale, thermometer, and a computer tablet, which allows you to see and talk with your doctor from home and communicate with your care team. The computer tablet is provided at no additional cost and must be returned upon your completion of the program.
