2024 Special Notice About New Employer Inquiries

Unfortunately, at this time we are not accepting any new employer engagements until further notice. We hope to provide additional information regarding our 2025 plan in the coming months.

Defining a new level of service in executive medical care

Executive health physicals are available at our Seattle or Bellevue medical centers. The exams typically start at 7 a.m. and take about three hours.

Itineraries are sent in advance of the exam, along with complete instructions on what to bring, where to park, what to wear, what the fasting requirements are and more. We provide parking passes and valet for Virginia Mason Medical Center garages. The Virginia Mason Franciscan Health Medical Pavilion – Bellevue has free parking for patients.

The protocols for our executive health physicals are based on information from the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force; American Cancer Society, and with additional testing as recommended by Virginia Mason Franciscan Health medical staff physicians.

Exam specifics are determined based on the age and gender of the patient.

Executives are mailed their test results and a written physician summary within a few days after the exam. All results from an executive physical are confidential and will not be shared with employers.

We handle coordination of all the various components, which—depending on the age and health of the executive—may include some or all of the following.

  • Comprehensive laboratory panel: Blood drawn for the executive physical is tested for more than 50 different measures, including a complete blood count, a complete cholesterol screening, thyroid function, renal function, liver function, serum proteins, electrolytes, and glucose.

  • Cardiac treadmill stress test: This study helps detect cardiac rhythm disorders and monitors exercise capacity.

  • Carotid intimal media thickness: This high-resolution ultrasound is used to screen for early atherosclerosis and vascular issues in people with an elevated risk for stroke and heart attack.

  • Aorta abdominal ultrasound: This ultrasound done on the abdomen, screens for abdominal aortic aneurysm—a weak bulging spot in the artery that runs through the abdomen carrying blood to the lower part of the body.

Note for executives: Based on your health history, additional testing may be recommended by the physician who conducts your executive physical. However, ongoing testing or medical services (outside the scope of the executive health physical) would be ordered by your primary care doctor. If you do not have a primary care doctor for ongoing care (outside of the executive exam) we can recommend one. Medical services provided outside the scope of the executive health physical will be billed to your health insurance carrier.
