Our language access program ensures clear communication for individuals with Limited English Proficiency (LEP) and those who are deaf, hard of hearing or live with disabilities. All Virginia Mason Franciscan Health hospitals and clinics provide language and interpreter services free of charge in order to ensure that our patients and visitors have effective communication. If you need help with communication, our teams are here for you. We offer free support to LEP patients and those who require American Sign Language (ASL), including written translations and qualified medical interpretation services in over 200 languages, services by phone, video or in person. We also provide assistive devices and language assistance for patients with vision, or hearing needs—all at no cost to you.
For more information about our Language Access Program or assistance, contact any care team member at one of our care facilities.
In addition to language and interpreter services, free auxiliary aids and services are provided to patients and their visitors who are deaf or hearing-impaired, have impaired vision, speaking or manual skills. We are dedicated to providing high-quality care to everyone, no matter their background or abilities.
In-person: To make a request for interpreter services while you are at any Virginia Mason Franciscan Health facility, please notify any staff member that you need an interpreter.

Correct and effective interpretation removes the “guesswork” from receiving treatment. Providers and care team members can fully understand and assess the patient’s needs, resulting in clarity of diagnosis and treatment.
We are committed to compassionate health care. The Language Access Program ensures that providers and care team members have access to resources and qualified medical interpreters, helping remove language barriers and enabling our care teams to fully focus on the treatment and well-being of patients.
