Reproductive Health Services

Your reproductive health can impact your well-being regardless of whether you wish to become pregnant. Period problems or birth control that doesn't meet your needs can be bothersome, painful, and disruptive to your busy schedule.

At Virginia Mason Franciscan Health, our experts are here for you with compassionate care and treatments that help you meet your goals. No concern is too small to discuss. Together, we'll get to the bottom of it and find a path forward.

Reproductive health services: Why choose us?

Experienced gynecologists, nurse midwives and nurse practitioners deliver reproductive health services. We use research-based methods to guide evaluations and care recommendations. Our thoughtful approach has earned the trust and appreciation of patients throughout the Puget Sound.

Highlights of our program include:

  • Compassion: We strive to deliver care that's consistent with your beliefs, lifestyle and personal preferences. Our offices are a safe, nonjudgmental place where you can openly discuss your point of view. Doing so enables you to receive exceptional care for a broad range of gynecologic conditions and symptoms.
  • Holistic approach: We provide many services you need to meet your reproductive health goals. Offerings include options you might not expect to find, like fertility testing. If you are trying to avoid pregnancy, you may be eligible for permanent options, like salpingectomy, which removes your fallopian tubes and lowers your risk of ovarian cancer.
  • Convenience: Returning patients have the option to be seen through virtual visits. You discuss your symptoms with one of our providers through our secure online platform. Our experts then plan the next steps of your care, which may include an in-office exam, lab tests, prescriptions, or specialist referrals.

Our reproductive health services

Reproductive health services available at Virginia Mason Franciscan Health include:

  • We offer a variety of medically necessary reversible methods, including pills, patches, rings and implantable uterine devices (IUDs). We also offer permanent birth control, such as surgery, to remove the fallopian tubes shown to reduce your ovarian cancer risk. Birth control not only prevents pregnancy, but it's also a common treatment for certain gynecologic conditions, like fibroids. Your provider explains all your options and helps you decide what's right for you.

Many of our sites offer elective services for reversible and permanent birth control options, including Virginia Mason Medical Center, St. Michael Medical Center, St. Anne Hospital, and numerous clinics across our service area.

  • If painful cramps, heavy flow or other issues are too much to bear, we can help. Our team regularly cares for people with irregular or painful periods. We correctly diagnose the problem and deliver therapies that bring lasting relief.

  • Fertility testing may be right for you if you are trying to get pregnant and not having success. We conduct various evaluations to identify the cause and offer basic treatments. Your care may include therapies for gynecologic conditions affecting fertility or medications to stimulate ovulation.

Policy: Reproductive health care

Virginia Mason Franciscan Health provides high quality health care to everyone in our care, recognizing each person's inherent dignity as a unique expression of life. We value informed consent and all clinicians are supported in disclosing all medically appropriate options with their patients, including interventions not available at our facilities. We do not provide direct abortions or in-vitro fertilization in any of our facilities. When a pregnant patient arrives with a serious pathological condition that puts the their life at risk, our clinicians are supported to pursue operations, treatments, and medications within the standard of care that have as their direct purpose the cure of a proportionately serious pathological condition even if this indirectly results in the termination of the pregnancy.
