One-month clerkships are available to third- and fourth-year podiatric medical students in the hospital-based externship program. Students participate in the pre-operative, operative, and post-operative management of patients. Students assist the residents with their duties and activities, including in-house patient rounds, patient consults, podiatric surgery, ground rounds, journal club, dissection lab, surgical lab, and various lectures.
Students from all schools of podiatric medicine are welcome to apply for an externship through the AACPM Uniform Clerkship Program. Housing is not provided by the residency. An externship month is not required to be considered for a residency position, but is strongly encouraged.
