Frequently Asked Questions - Internal Medicine Residency, St. Joseph

  • We will match 13 residents per year.

  • All application materials for our residency program must be forwarded to us through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS.) We do not accept faxed, emailed, or paper copies of resumes or applications. All positions are filled through the NRMP. The program does not fill any intern positions outside of the NRMP.

  • Applicants must submit the following:

    1. Completed ERAS application form
    2. Personal statement
    3. Medical school transcripts
    4. Dean’s letter (MSPE)
    5. USMLE step 1 and 2 transcripts and/or COMLEX Level 1 and 2-CE
  • All applicants must have an MD or DO degree from an accredited school of medicine or college of osteopathic medicine upon application.

  • ACLS certification is required prior to the start of our residency.

  • Our interview season typically begins in late October/early November and extends through January. Applicants who are not selected for interview will receive a letter of regret.

  • We highly suggest applying for a sub-internship if you are interested in the St. Joseph Internal Medicine Residency. We are only able to accept U.S. medical students for a sub-internship. Please contact Dr. Heather Kissel for further information.

  • At current time, we do not have the infrastructure in place to accept international medical graduates.
